Wildfires
Hello bananas! Merry almost Christmas! Today's blog post shall be about wildfires.
Sometimes, fires occur naturally, ignited by heat from the sun or a lightning strike. However, most wildfires are because of human carelessness such as arson, campfires, discarding lit cigarettes, not burning debris properly, playing with matches or fireworks.
Wildfires can travel up to 10.8 kilometres per hour in forests and
22 kilometers per hour in grasslands.
Slash and burn fires are set every day to destroy large sections of forests. Of course, these forests don't just remove trees; they kill and displace wildlife, alter water cycles and soil fertility, and endanger the lives and livelihoods of local communities. They also can rage out of control. When these fires burn our priceless and precious mother nature, they take animals and their homes with them.
To prevent more of these deadly fires from happening we should not be playing with fire eg matchsticks.
So...spread the news but not the fire!
Bye bananas
Cool.
